The difference concerning healthy diet and doing exercise

Nowadays one of the major problems conserning our sociaty worldwise is obesity. It is sad, but obesity is becoming more and more difficult to fight with while it continues to spread around the globe. And what makes it so challenging is the fack that overweigh can only be battled by diet and exercising. And, therein lies the rub "our busy lifestyle". We choose unhealthy foods from fast-food restaurants because it's easier than cooking, and it saves time. That is why we do not work out, No Time! But, if you had time for only one of these weight loss approaches, which one are you going to choose? Diet or Working out?

Well, the answer really depends on you. First thing first, ask your "What do I want to achieve?".? Are you only interested in the quickest way to lose weight, or you want to live a healthy long life? If your goal is just to lose weight, watching your diet should be sufficient. But, if you want to improve the quality of your life and live longer and healthier life, you should start focusing on exercise, or both.

The Bennefits of Dieting

Scientists have been compared the progress of two groups of people who are trying to lose weight on "diet only" programs and on "exercise only" programs, in twelve week long study. The overweight women in "diet only" program lost 5.5kg (12.12 lbs) and men lost 8.4kg (18.51 lbs). This was accomplished by reducing the caloric consumption of women by an average of 945 kilocalories per day and men by 1705 kilocalories per day.

On the other hand, in "exercise only" group, women lost 0.6 kg (1.32 lbs) and men lost 0.3 kg (0.66 lbs). This group of people had been performing jogging and walking 5 days a week for 30 minutes a day. The results showed that a man burned around 255 kcal while woman burned around 190 kcal per session.

The women in "diet only" program showed better results by losing 6% of their body fat, while the women in "exercise only" - lost only 2% of their body fat. The men riched different results that the women, the males in "exercise only" program didn't see any significant change, while the men in "diet only" program lost about 5% of their body fat. The resuts are clear - eating low calorie diet in much more efficient way for losing body fat.

Exercising for better life:

Don't let the above study to ruin your motivation to exercise. The study did not include any weight training exercises, which are essential to muscle building and losing fat. Weight loss is just one of the benefits you can enjoy exercising.

Scientists has found that for every hour you spend on exercising you expand your lifespan with 2 hours. But don't mislead yourself, the more important is not the longevity, but the quality of life. You have better chances of being disease free when you are old if you exercise frequently.

As you already found out dieting is enough if you want to lose weight, but exercising is essencial for being healthy and fit. If you are one of those people who think that losing the weight is equal to being healthy, don't stop your jorney at weight loss. Just tent to avoid to lose weight in a week, because this is not going to happen. You should start a good exercise program that would help you in living your life to the fullest.
